Article 1Players, deck and objective

1.1

Who Da Baby Daddy Is was contributed by Ten Ox, as published on pagat.com. It is a stud game played with a standard 52-card deck, as either a five-card or a seven-card game. The dealer shall announce which before the deal.

1.2

The last card dealt to each player is that player's baby daddy. Its rank is wild for that player only. Every other card of the same rank in the same player's hand, face up or face down, is also wild for that player.

1.3

The best five-card high hand wins, under the standard hand rankings. Because wild cards are in play, five of a kind is possible. The source does not rank it; the usual practice is that five of a kind beats a straight flush. The dealer shall confirm this before the deal.

1.4

Up to seven players can take part in the seven-card game and up to ten in the five-card game.

Article 2Antes and the deal

2.1

Antes and betting limits are as agreed before the deal, following the usual conventions of five-card stud or seven-card stud.

2.2

Each player is dealt two cards face down, followed by a betting round. Then one card face up to each player and a betting round, and a second face-up card and another betting round.

2.3

In the seven-card game this step is repeated twice more, so that before the last card each player holds two cards down and four up.

2.4

Finally, each player who has not folded is dealt one more card face up. This is their baby daddy. There is no betting after it.

Article 3Showdown

3.1

As soon as the last cards are dealt, the remaining players expose their hands and the best hand wins the pot.

3.2

Each player's wild rank applies only to their own hand. The same rank in an opponent's hand is not wild for the opponent unless it is also that opponent's baby daddy rank.

3.3

If all other players fold during the betting, the last player wins without the final card being dealt.

Example

The last card makes four of a kind

Seven-card game. A player holds 9♣Q♦ down and 9♥4♠Q♣6♦ up: two pair, queens and nines.

The last card is 4♦. Fours are now wild for this player, so both 4♦ and 4♠ are wild.

With Q♦Q♣ and the two wild fours, the player has four queens with a nine kicker.

Article 4Common variations

4.1

The choice between the five-card and seven-card game is the main variation. The seven-card game gives more cards that can match the last card's rank.

4.2

A different game with a similar name, Babies' Daddy, has its own rules.

Article 5Strategy notes

5.1

Every final hand gets at least one wild card, so final hands run much stronger than in plain stud.

5.2

Pairs are valuable: if the last card matches a pair you already hold, you gain three wild cards.

5.3

All the betting happens before anyone knows their wild rank, so the last betting round is a bet on potential, not on made hands.
