Crazy Blind Man Rules

Crazy Blind Man mixes Crazy Pineapple with Blind Man's Bluff. Each player is dealt three cards and holds them to their forehead, so they can see everyone else's cards but not their own. After the flop, each player removes one card from the player on their left, unseen by its owner, and the hand is then played out like Hold'em with two hole cards each.

Article 1Players, deck and objective

1.1

Crazy Blind Man was contributed to pagat.com by Frank Kills In Water. It combines Crazy Pineapple with the forehead-card idea of Blind Man's Bluff, also known as Indian Poker.

1.2

The game uses a standard 52-card deck with no jokers and no wild cards. Hands rank according to the standard poker hand rankings.

1.3

The object is to win the pot with the best five-card hand at the showdown, or by making a bet no one calls. Only the high hand wins.

Article 2The blinds and the deal

2.1

A small blind and a big blind are posted by the two players to the left of the button, as in Texas Hold'em.

2.2

The dealer deals three cards face down to each player.

2.3

Without looking at them, each player holds their three cards against their forehead, facing outwards. Every player can then see all the other players' cards but not their own. A player shall not look at their own cards until the showdown.

Article 3Play, the removal and betting

StageWhat happens
1First betting round, each player holding three cards
2The flop: three community cards dealt face up
3The removal: each player takes one card from the player on their left (3.1)
4Second betting round
5The turn, then the third betting round
6The river, then the final betting round and showdown
3.1

The removal. After the flop, each player chooses one of the three cards held by the player on their left and removes it. The removals are made in turn, starting with the small blind taking a card from the big blind and continuing clockwise, until every player still in the hand has lost one card.

3.2

The removed card is discarded. No player may see the card that was taken from them. Each player is left holding two cards, still unseen by themselves.

3.3

The source describes the removal for the whole table. The dealer shall announce before the deal how it applies when some players have already folded; the natural approach is for each active player to remove a card from the nearest active player on their left.

3.4

Betting on each round follows the usual Hold'em order.

Article 4Showdown

4.1

At the showdown, each surviving player places their two cards face up on the table.

4.2

Each player's hand is the best five cards from their two hole cards and the five community cards, using both, one or neither hole card, as in Texas Hold'em. The best hand takes the pot, and tied hands share it equally.

Example

Choosing which card to remove

Flop: K♠8♦3♣

Player A can see that Player B, on A's left, holds K♥K♦2♠. With the flop, B has three kings but cannot see it.

A removes the K♥. B is left with K♦2♠ and, with the king of spades on the flop, now has only a pair of kings. B never learns which card was taken.

Article 5Variations

  • Late removal. The removal of one card is made after the turn, or after the river, instead of after the flop.
  • Three-game set. The three versions, with the removal after the flop, the turn and the river, are played one after another.

Article 6Frequently asked questions

Can you look at your own cards in Crazy Blind Man?

No. You hold your cards to your forehead so that everyone else can see them, but you cannot see them until the showdown.

Who removes your card in Crazy Blind Man?

The player on your right. Each player removes one card from the player on their left after the flop, and you never see which card was taken.

How many cards do you use in Crazy Blind Man?

After the removal you have two cards. Your hand is the best five from those two and the five community cards, as in Texas Hold'em.
